BREAKING: AOC Accuses Elon Musk of Shutting Off Her Internet Until She Pays $8 Ransom
"He’s totally, like, obsessed with me or something."
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is accusing Twitter CEO Elon Musk of having destroyed her entire internet connection after a back-and-forth with the lawmaker on the platform.
The lawmaker claims Musk found a way to shut off the internet in her D.C. apartment and is demanding $8 to turn it back on.
“Shortly after I called him out for charging $8 for verification, I noticed my wi-fi suddenly stopped working. I couldn’t connect on any of my devices,” she tweeted.
“He’s totally trying to stop me from exposing him as a greedy capitalist white supremacist,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a live stream on Instagram. “He must have hired some hackers to throttle my internet so I can’t get the word out.”
During the live stream, AOC said she received a mysterious text message from an anonymous number saying her service would be restored for $8. “I just know it was Elon Musk. He’s totally, like, obsessed with me or something,” she said.
Ocasio-Cortez’s allegations come after she complained about plans to charge Twitter users $8 per month to be verified on the platform. “Like, why should a wealthy Twitter user have to only pay eight bucks?” she told The Smattering. “They can afford to pay more. Why can’t Musk make them pay their fair share?”
In a written statement released to The Smattering, Musk said: “I categorically deny any allegations that we took action against Rep. Ocasio-Cortez. But I don’t see what the big deal is. If she sells even one of those $60 sweatshirts, she can afford seven times that ransom.”
