FBI To Launch Domestic Terrorism Investigation Into Twitter After It Reinstates Donald Trump’s Account
Washington, D.C. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is considering launching a domestic terrorism investigation into Twitter after CEO Elon Musk reinstated the account of former President Donald Trump.
According to a memo that was leaked to The Smattering the Bureau is looking into the social media platform and its new CEO over concerns that bringing the former president back might "trigger widespread white nationalist extremist attacks” all across the country.
“If Trump starts tweeting again, we might just see Jan. 6 happen on a daily basis. We cannot allow this to happen,” the memo read.
An FBI analyst speaking on condition of anonymity told The Smattering: “We have been telling the nation that white supremacist terrorism is the biggest threat to national security, but so far, we haven’t had many major incidents. Trump’s Twitter account might just prove us right, hopefully.”
The former president has not yet posted a tweet since being reinstated and indicated he will stay on Truth Social. But this has not assuaged the FBI’s fears.
“The fact that people can still see all of his old tweets is an indicator that we are seeing the beginning of a nationwide race war,” the memo read. “We have already seen MAGA extremists online spewing dangerous rhetoric about problematic concepts like ‘free speech.’”
“Musk is emboldening these people to publicly support things like ‘individual liberty,’ and ‘competing in the marketplace of ideas’ using Twitter’s platform. It’s gotten so much worse since Trump’s account was resurrected,” the memo continued. “To protect the security of the nation, we will be looking into this shady Musk character, who has ties to South African apartheid.”
